Question Tags (Advanced)

Handle imperatives, let's and negatives.

Examples

  • Let's go, shall we?
  • Open it, will you?

Key rules

  • Positive statement gets negative tag and the reverse
  • I am → aren't I
  • Let's → shall we
  • Imperative → will you / won't you
  • Nobody and nothing take positive tags (Nobody called, did they? Nothing happened, did it?)

Common mistakes

  • I am late, amn't I → I am late, aren't I
  • Let's go, don't we → Let's go, shall we
💡 Tip: Tag intonation: rising = real question, falling = checking.
